Zareh Matevosyan, whom the Armenians have by far distinguished as a beloved singer and songwriter, was born in the city of Hrazdan, Armenia, on August 10, 1973. At an early age, as Zareh was approaching grade school he discovered his gift of music. Listening to his sister play the accordion he was able to transform the same tune more harmoniously on the accordion without the need of basic music.

Zareh moved to the city of Abovyan at the age of 10 where he began studying the standards of music. He always had great passion for learning to play the guitar. During his course of study in music he fulfilled his passion. Playing the guitar, Zareh was able to express his creative inner world. From this point on the guitar became his inseparable love.

In 1991, Zareh and his family moved to the United States. He continued his music career in America. Being far from his homeland, Zareh kept recalling innocent childhood memories. Longing for the past enlightened his creative talent in music and poetry. Along the years his musical talent and creativity flourished which later, in 1996, lead to the release of his first album titled “Tears of Love.” This marked the beginning of his professional singing career.

Zareh has created over 30 songs, some of which have been sung by famous artists in Armenia and have proven to be a great success in the Armenian music industry. His latest album “Ten Songs Written in the Midst of Nights,” released in 2005, was a dramatic success and fondly accepted by his audience. This album includes the hit song “Hello guys” a duet sung with Ashot Ghazarian which had a tremendous impact on Zareh’s career.

Zareh is now in the process of recording a new album in which his songs will be presented by famous Armenian artists. Many songs from the upcoming album are already being presented on Armenian television networks in Armenia and over seas.

Along with writing and composing music Zareh is also active in other fields of pastime. Although this was a short biography, it sums up Zareh’s success in his career and his endless passion for music and poetry.

Above all, his main priority is his family. Zareh is married and has a daughter. He is a devoted husband and a father.
